That’s Enough!

THAT’S ENOUGH!

or You’re not quite the same, Honey!

A musical comedy in two acts

The show opened on 1 March 1997 in the Pataky Art Centre. It was transferred to the University Stage Theatre, Budapest for a three-month-run.

In co-production with the Pataky Art Centre, the show had a revival in 1999 as a part of the Art Festival of Kobanya. The revival production was recorded by M-Sat television. One of the feature songs of the show made it to the music chart-list of M-Sat television. Later, Budapest Television (BpTV) aired clips from the show.

In the revival version the part of ‘Helen’ was played by Zsuzsa Szilagyi, member of the Budapest Chamber Theatre group.

George — the AA stage-director — wants to start over.
Helen — the middle-aged diva — wants George.
Lucy — the assistant — wants to be a leading lady.
Kate — the prop mistress — wants to survive the opening night. That’s not easy because the set is falling apart at every step.
George is in desperate need for Helen to make the play a success.
Helen is in need of George for her happiness.
Lucy is in need of a part in the show to prove herself she is talented.
Kate is in need of a break. At least two days’ sleep. But tomorrow night is opening night.

When Helen realizes that George is no more in love with her but with his assistant, she leaves the dress-rehearsal and the production, too.

And yes, George is in love with her assistant, and he gives the leading female role to her, because at least she knows every words of the part.

Meanwhile, the other members of the cast are wandering around the stage and around each others’ bedrooms.

But when they find out that the production is diva-less, panic breaks out. It seems they will have to postpone the première.

But when midnight strikes they come to their senses: they have too much to lose. So they have to try the impossible: an opening night without a star.
